Rustic Wedding Venue Shropshire – The Barn at Wayside

Dec 15, 2021

Every now and then a new Wedding Venue opens it’s doors.  And this rustic barn wedding venue in Shropshire is just perfect for couples who’re looking for a wedding venue that offers something that little bit different and is utterly charming, and practical to boot!

Rustic Barn

I’m so happy to introduce you to The Barn at Wayside in Aston on Clun nestled in the beautiful Shropshire countryside.  It’s a delight.  As soon as I saw this new Rustic Barn Wedding Venue it was love at first sight.

The Barn has recently been through a complete renovation and is now open for Wedding bookings.

Country Chic

The Barn is large yet cosy too. It has an intimate mezzanine area, and a very spacious ground floor where the dining, socialising and dancing happens.  It has a lovely informal and relaxed industrial chic meets rustic country vibe and is so easy to dress up as you want to.

I’m already envisaging relaxed styling with locally grown flowers, lots of greenery, candles and rustic signage.

Dressed up or down as you wish, it’s fabulous, because even with very minimal dressing the building itself has so many lovely original features it can’t fail to impress.

Your guests will feel totally at ease at this rustic barn venue in Shropshire, and very comfortable in this large space which still manages to feel cosy too.  The high ceiling gives it a wonderful feeling of space and air.

Relaxed Country Wedding

There’s so much character and charm in the Barn. It’s newly refurbished to a very high standard of design and finish.

The rustic chic vibe means that it’s the perfect venue for boho couples who want a relaxed, country style Wedding.  The barn has a very spacious main room with a mezzanine area that leads to the courtyard garden area. Naomi told me that everyone who sees it falls in love with it and I can totally see why.

I was amazed to discover that it has so many different elements which means that couples like you can use the space in your own way.

Ceremony Area

A beautifully made wooden staircase leads you up to the Mezzanine area which overlooks the Main Barn and this is where your indoor Wedding Ceremony will take place.  It’s a charming intimate space with a beautiful, rustic wood-panelled feature wall, and glass doors looking out onto a courtyard garden which floods this area with light.

What a wonderful place to exchange your Vows.

Outdoor Ceremony Area

Have you heard of a ‘blue sky’ Wedding Ceremony?  It’s an Outdoors Ceremony under the open sky.  A Celebrant can create and officiate your Wedding Ceremony in any outdoor location you choose.  And there’s a wonderful area under the large ancient tree that grows in the grounds.  It’s just perfect for your Outdoor Wedding Ceremony with views of the distant hills and fields. Seats can be arranged in any formation you choose.

A circle or semi-circle allows everyone to feel a part of the ceremony because all of your guests can see and hear every part of your Personalised Wedding Ceremony.  Believe me, they’ll be hanging on to every word.

Picture the sun filtering through the leaves, shining it’s dappled light on your heads and shoulders with the sound of the birds and bees .going about their business in the background.  Or what about a Twilight Wedding Ceremony in the golden hour before the sun sets?  It’s all up to you.

There are no rules and no regulations with a Personalised Celebrant Ceremony.

Family owned Wedding Venue

The Barn at Wayside is a family run Wedding Venue owned by husband-and-wife Ian and Tracy.   Daughter Naomi is the Wedding Planner and the go-to person.  Naomi’s husband Michael is the Site Manager and deals with the day to day running of the venue.  Their passion for this beautiful Rustic Barn Wedding Venue in Shropshire is obvious to see and is reflected in everything they’re doing here.

Eco-friendly

I was so impressed to hear that sustainability is important to the family as this is something that matters to me and many modern couples too.  The renovation has been done in an eco-friendly way with the recycling of materials where possible and choosing eco-friendly options where they can.

The impressive lights in the main barn area are pre-loved for example and were sourced from a pub/restaurant that’s no longer trading.  The wood from the original barn cladding has been skilfully used to make the bar doors, wooden pallets have been artistically repurposed to create a wonderful focal wall on the mezzanine level and all the bricks used in the re-building are reclaimed.

Extended Wedding Day

Why not have an extended wedding day and make a two or three day event of your Wedding.  It’s in such a lovely location it would be a shame not to take advantage of it. Family and friends can also relax and enjoy spending a bit more time together.

Stone Cottage Accommodation

There’s lots of different accommodation options on site to suit all ages and tastes.  The 5-bedroom stone cottage has been stylishly renovated with pared-back modern country decor.  There’s a large kitchen, orangery, comfortable living rooms, luxurious bathrooms and shower rooms.

It’s just perfect for the bridal party to arrive the night before and enjoy an evening BBQ or order in some food from the local area, and then have a leisurely breakfast together before getting ready for the Wedding Ceremony.  And the comfy spacious bedrooms are the perfect place to get your beauty sleep after the Wedding!

Onsite Guest Accommodation

There’s also a self-contained cabin that sleeps 4, which is modern, stylish and very comfortable.  It’s ideal for the couple, if you want to have that little bit of privacy away from your guests on your wedding night!

Shepherds Huts

There are three Shepherd Huts for guests who love something a bit more quirky, rustic and fun.  Perfect for small families as the kids (big and small) will absolutely love the adventure of it.

Glamping and Camping

Added to this there’s space for Glamping Tents for more of your guests to stay on site with you and not miss out on any of the fun going on!  And there’s even some caravan hook-up points too if anyone wants to bring their own caravan or campervan.  It’s such an amazing space with so many different options, and you can use some of it or all of it – however you want to.
